I don't want to sound too critical of Locks of Love, but these are the facts:

Locks of Love only makes wigs for kids with long term or permanent hair loss from diseases like Alopecia. They do not make wigs for kids with Cancer, because Cancer is not considered a "long term" or "permanent" hair loss. Locks of Love already has over 10,000 ponytails sitting in a warehouse in Florida, and they are receiving about 100 new ponytails everyday. But, they've only made a few hundred wigs and they have even charged the families of the kids (based on their ability to pay) for the wigs they have made. Locks of Love sells a lot of the hair they receive (and paid nothing for) to companies like Clairol for perm and color testing. The majority of the hair they receive will get used for testing, and then get thrown away. Or, it will just sit in their warehouse with the 10,000 ponytails they already have.

Locks of Love does not meet the Better Business Bureau's standards for Charity Accountability. Click on the link below, to see what the BBB has to say about Locks of Love. Also, when you look at the Better Business Bureau report, be sure to look at the break down of Locks of Love's $375,000 gross income. Over $150,000 came from "hair sales".
